Have You Heard? Google Loves A Tasty Blog Roll

According to Web Pro News, Google loves a tasty blog roll.  Read the story here:  Blog Roll.

    Apparently Google really likes:

  • The content of recent posts,
  • A blogroll, and;
  • Blog metadata (author profile information and/or other information about the blog or its author).  Way to go Colleen Kulikowski !  You are on point and on task.  If this doesn't inspire us to clean up and freshen up our profiles, nothing will.  Colleens Post:  Keeping it Fresh
  • Other tasty features for a blog:

    • It's popularity.
    • Inclusion in blogrolls (especially high-quality ones)
    • Tagging of the blog.
    • News aggregator subscriptions.  -  They could imply high popularity.  Google may validate those against "subscriptions spam" by checking for unique subscriber IP addresses.  (IE: weed out the Nigerian $25 million dollar scams)

Does anyone have any pros or cons to share about blog rolls?  I was under the idea from Mary McKnight that Blog Rolls Suck.   Mary's Blog:  Does Your Blogroll Suck?  Maybe things have changed!

Uncle Fester Joins The 100,000 Points Club!

festerI'll probably live, but something has gotten the best of me. I believe it was some sort of spinach dip I had at a party saturday.  It's been awhile since I have been this sick. I actually had a listing appointment at 10:30 yesterday and showed two homes at 2:30.  I knew something was wrong on the way home.  I even ran a red light to get home.  It was a long night and I now look like Uncle Fester and a little wrung out.  (That mascara migrated with the all night sweats!)

A lot of Active Rainers have posted a milestone post for hitting a target point or number of posts. I have not hit one yet!  I see a post for someone that reads "My 100th Post!" and I check my number.  I missed one hundred.  I guess I wasn't paying attention.  I've seen the 25,000 ....  50,000 .... 100,000 points posts plan to add my post to celebrate, if I remember of course.  Keep in mind, I have the CRS designation - which in my case stands for Can't Remember Shitake (mushrooms).

Well about a week ago Colleen Kulikowski sent me an email to welcome me to the 100,000 club.  I had to go to my points and check.  She's right!  I'm almost there!  I better pay attention and post something BRILLIANT when I pass the 100,000 mark.

Something Brilliant!  There, I said it.chris griffith

In honor of my 100,000 point milestone I am sharing links to posts that were particularly memborable and made me laugh.  With so many new faces around here, it may be more like a time capsule to the Active Rain past.

One of my most favorites was the series of MEMES.  I think that was the first time most of you all got to see me topless.  Check out: Monster Meme Madness  and Meme, Again.   Oh, and the Chris "Just Chris" Griffith's Resolution Meme.  Any of you with memes http://activerain.com/blogs/tags/meme can post them in the comments if you care to share.

For a good laugh take:  Personality Test For REALTORS  Someone get Marc Blasi a second sheet of paper.

Like they said on the Titanic, "We don't need no stinkin' lifeboats, we need room to dance!"  Then they hit The Tip of The Florida FSBO Iceberg.  My favorite part has been following up on this post.  What are the odds I show up with my camera the minute in the day that CODE ENFORSEMENT shows up to issue a CITATION!  Oh, as of Friday the snowman is STILL on the roof but the banner is down.

In closing I would like to recommend that everyone read a post of someone they do not know and add a comment, flag it if it needs featured, rate it, too.  If you don't know what to say in the comments, "Have a nice day" should be sufficient.

    HAVE A NICE DAY KIDDIES!
