This SucksThis week has been something else for more than a few Bonitians.

My how things changed from "number nine" to "number one" in a matter of six days.  Pay close attention to number one, especially if you're from Bonita Springs, Estero, Naples, Fort Myers and Cape Coral

We could use a little help at the Estero Community Center.

This is Why Mona Lisa Doesn't Smile

Miserable WomanTake a look at this beauty.  She was left behind in a home in Bonita Springs, Florida that hadn't been redecorated from the early 80's.  She was probably the best looking artifact in the home.  I saved her from the paint brush.  She was almost mustached.

I'm not sure if she's suppose to be Mona Lisa or Frieda Kahlo.

I explained to the new owner of the home that this painting must be saved.  It was special (ugly) enough to be a story piece for years to come and that it has to live on.  She is waiting for the remodel to be complete so she finds her place in this home.

First time home buyers sometimes have to really suck it up when they buy a home.  There are some dated items, well, they're all dated items in this one.  There is some grime.  There is more money to be spent.  In this one, there was even termites.  They're kind of cute once you get past the massive destruction they do...

If it's been a while since you've seen a blast from the past house, count your blessings.  There are still homes with avocado everything, two story ovens and fake walnut paneling.

I'll try to come back with before and after photos when the paint, carpet and termite tent are gone. lol

I kicked Fay's Ass

If you haven't guessed yet, this newsletter contains up to the minute storm coverage on Fay, the retail anomaly and storm that wasn't.

She was a sissy, if you must know.  There, I said it.

For those of you who may have fallen victim to network TV hype, remember, bloggers have the news, networks are selling Tide detergent and Pampers so they gotta make it look good so you'll get stuck watching their commercials.

Fitzgeralds Fends Off Fay in Bonita Springs

Have you met Fay? Not to be confused with Jenna Faye, cheerleader extraordinare and Bonita Springs resident. The city has been abuzz with Fay happenings. She’s a storm but not a bad one at all. All the Bonitians have taken precautions but most are just looking for the day off and have their coolers full of brewskies. Priorities, priorities.

This evening, Al Gorithm and I collected real estate signs, checked my listings and my parents house. We then looked for a place to eat. Coconut Point totally bailed on us. Closed. Locked up tight. We ended up going back down 41 over Imperial River Bridge, hung a left on Bonita Beach Road and swung into Fitzgerald’s just east of Aroyal Road. It’s right in front of Ace Hardware. The were open and the joint was full of people filling up on pub grub, bangers and brew.

When Campbell, the owner, walked by we thanked him for staying open. He said in the sweetest brogue, “Are you kidding me darlin’, this is a party. If the roof is on tomorrow, we’re open at 11 for people to find a pint”. So there you have it. The majority of restaurants may be closed tomorrow but Fitzgerald’s in front of Ace Hardware on Bonita Beach Road is o-p-e-n for business. I know this because they already spray painted it on the boards on the windows. If you go in tell ‘em you saw this blog. I told them I’d write about it.

Here’s the rest of what is going on around Bonita Springs while Hurrican Fay plans her arrival. This photo was at about 4:00 by Imperial Harbor 55+ Community in Bonita Springs on Old US 41 Road. Just a drizzle.

On the way home we stop to top off the fuel. Just then, and Evans Oil truck is backing in to fill the station tanks.

Tomorrow, hopefully business might get back to normal. Most of my programs and services are web based and the local servers get shut down. I have a great listing that needs buckled up in Stoneybrook and a purchase offer in Rapallo.

We never miss a beat. It’s just a little wind and water. Heck, I wrote, presented and had two contracts accepted *during* Charlie.

More photos to come tomorrow morning!

(I just heard a gust!)
