Making Memories at a Discount

If you haven't tried it before or heard of it for that matter http://www.walgreens.com/ has an online photo service.

Now, photo processing is a competitive market and I don't doubt that there are per print prices that might be more affordable if I cared to shop for it.

Here is the neatest thing about Walgreens online.  Set up your free account.  Then you can upload and store your photos.  After the photos are uploaded you can - from your home computer:

  1. Order the photos to pick up at your local Walgreens
  2. Send the photos to the Walgreens of your choice; if you're vacationing send them to the store closest to your hotel or rental condo.
  3. Order a set and have them sent them to the store near Grandmas in Cleveland, Ohio, or the Walgreens that's closer to work.
  4. Order a set sent via postal mail to whomever you choose. If  you live 1,000's of miles from friends and family you can keep them in the loop with your family.  They process and mail them right from the factory.
  5. Email a "share album" link to someone that can pick and choose what they want to have printed. I've had fellow school mates of my kids ask for images and I just sent them a "share link" to my Walgreens account.

The cost for prints is $.19 and you can even order other sizes and gift items.  Plus, you can manage your prescriptions from your Walgreens account if that's where you get your med's.

Chris,

Do you still have your pictures printed?

My basement if so full of prints that I quit doing it.

Now I just burn them onto CDs for easier storage.

Does Walgreens have good prices on the larger pictures as well?

Thanks,

Lucky :)

I've mostly used it for the kids and to mail to family that lives across the country.  I, too, have most of my prints on disc. I took all of the photos for the local sports teams last years so it made it easy to have anyone who wanted a print to email and I'd send a link so they could order their own.

Chris,

Since my kids are 30 and 32, I forget those days! ;)

If you use a Sony camera, you can also download to Pixela, which allows you to edit and link to friends free.

How's your market doing?

Lucky :)

I like to burn photos on CD and also have them on my computer. I will look into pixela.

Interesting post! I never thought of it. Generally, I email the photo's and let my kids print them on their CPU or vise-versa. I will check into this.

Thanks

Chris, I use Picasa and particularly like being able to create online photo albums for out of state clients but certainly could use it for friends.  This Walgreens program sounds like a good one as well.

Chris, I like this idea but I tend to use the real estate shows to email to family and friends. All thise prints hanging around gets overwhelming to me.

Chris, Thanks for this tip.

Walgreens has always done neat things with their stores, that truly sets them apart.  One time when I was on vacation, I was on a medication and forgot it at home.  I went into the local Walgreens and they filled the prescription.  Thanks for the post.

Chris Elizabeth Griffith ~ Bonita Springs Fl Real Estate - Great idea on how to use this service.  I use the Google Picasa for my online storage, but you have given me new ideas on how to send prints.  thanks again for this great idea.

Hey Chris, that's pretty neat.  I knew Walgreen's did this but I hadn't thought about having family across the country picking up prints at their local store.  And I really do prefer Walgreens to CVS.  Must be all that parking.

Love being able to use Walgreens, Walmart, etc so that long distance family can order the prints they want! Great info to share!

Chris,  Thanks for the tip - it's good that it's online since I don't have a Walgreens near me - this is "big" CVS country.  I make neat albums with Adobe Photoshop, Karen
